Arden Vul Session 09
What the Ambassador Files
Date: June 1, 2026
Party: Florian (bard), Lorez (wizard), Cedric (Fighter), Johannes (cleric), Runner (Ranger)
See the whole thing on my Arden Vul campaign page.
I have had them watched since their arrival. They are messy. They trigger traps they could have avoided, make promises they cannot keep, and negotiate from positions that collapse the moment pressure is applied. The bard, Phlorian, spoke well enough until he needed to speak well, at which point he did not. Standard adventurer arc. I have seen it many times.
And yet.
They pulled Markos's patrol out of the gas room. The patrol captain confirmed this unprompted, in front of Deino, which is not nothing, Markos does not volunteer praise. They also cleared the ghoul line at the fountain approach.
Deino's deliberation over what to do with them is, I will note, ongoing. I arrived at an interesting moment. I have not accelerated the resolution.
My recommendation, if the Thegn wants one, is that we allow the situation to develop. The outsiders are generating friction between the garrison factions, Skleros's people against Nikeos's people, the veterans against the younger counts, and friction produces information. They are also, apparently, in contact with the Exile, with whom the beastmen have some agreement.
They may not survive another day. If they do not, we will have learned something about the dungeon's current pressure points at no cost to ourselves.
If they do survive, we will have learned something more interesting.
Either way, I am content to watch.
The ghoul situation to the west is noted. It is not my problem.
